WOW! Really? 2011 has gone and went... well, at least with a day to spare. So at this time, I would like to take a quick peak at the past and reminisce on what 2011 has bLESsed us with =)

Mr. Wonderful and I bought our first house!!

YAY!!!

We bought a house that needed A LOT of TLC... for instance, the swimming pool. So after putting in a little bit of elbow grease mix...

We now have a swimming pool for our family and friends to enjoy.

I was so excited to decorate our house for the holidays. The very first holiday we celebrated in our home was Halloween =)

I got to experience for the first time... the city of lights... Sin City. Ramon and I joined some family members to help celebrate my cousins 21st birthday.

We stayed at the very best... The Venetian. After experiencing this type of luxury, I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to stay anywhere else on the strip... it was magnificent.

We lived the life of a classy high roller

all the way down to a Rock n Roll Rock Star!

Ramon and I were surprised with a pair of Jay Z and Kanye West concert ticket, The Thrown, from my cousin Johna and my auntie Toni. We had such a blast! Ramon's all time hero is JayZ! It was awesome seeing Mr. Everything re-sight every word to every song. He was in Heaven.

And you know me... of course I had to dress the part. It just wouldn't have been right!

I was decked out in a black Yankee's hat, black blazer, white v-neck, distressed jeans, black knee boots and big ghetto gold jewelry. I FELT SO "BEYONCE" LIKE. lol

We celebrated Mr. Handsome's 29th birthday quietly. Although we didn't have any crazy plans, he was my King and his wish was my command.

For his birthday dinner, I made Lobster, T-Bone steak, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus... a meal fit for a king =)

My 28th birthday was celebrated a day later. (Yup, we are a year and a day apart)

And I have to admit, my day went a little bit differently... We celebrated my birthday as rock stars!!

And ended up here... at lovely Castro, where I had the time of my life at!

2011 is a very memorable and powerful year for my family. My mom gave us a scare for a bit but now she is better. Like 100 times better. She is back and BETTER than ever before! Congratulations mommy on all you've accomplished thus far. You never cease to amaze me. You are my shinning star!!

I reunited with old friends from way back in middle school... 15 years ago, we use to run the school =)

One that I would like to spotlight the most would be decorating our home for Christmas. This is where my dream for so many years has come true.

Rocking out still continued this year. I attended a beautiful cocktail party that was hosted by my lovely cousin and best friend, Jennifer M.

Mr. Honey and I hosted our first holiday party this year. We got a lot of family tips and holiday traditions passed down to us from my Grandmother, to include this lovely apron that was sent from her hometown, Berlin, Germany. It is an honor to have something so precious and priceless to be passed down to me. I will cherish this forever.

Christmas morning was celebrated at our house to =) We invited our immediate family to spend the night Christmas Eve to open gifts together on Christmas morning and break bread together as a family. Unfortunately, Melody and JayJay were not able to attend, but everyone else was able to celebrate with us.

We were so excited to finally use our dinning room table at it's fullest capacity.

Goodbye 2011!! It's been Real! Hello 2012! Can't wait to meet ya tonight at the stroke of midnight. I'm sure you have plenty in store for us. We're ready! HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT! =)

Christmas Eve 2011 with the family

Hey Ya'll... To all the wives, spouses, significant others who worked so very hard in preparation for this Christmas holiday... WE DID IT! WE SURVIVED! And boy was it all worth it.

This year was my very first time hosting our annual Christmas Eve party. It funny, because earlier this year when Mr. Lovely and I were house hunting... let the truth be told... I was hunting for a house that fit perfectly for Christmas. We found it. We decorated it. And we partied it in... it was everything I imagined and so much more... to say the very least.

Any who, during the preparation of the party, my grandmother, Oma taught me many family traditions in the way our family celebrates Christmas Eve. And one of those traditions is where the lady of the home wears an apron sent from Germany that was past down year to year. I was honored to wear it this year. At the end of the night, I fell deeply in love with this apron. My grandmother saw how happy I was in this apron... she walked up to me, hugged me and whispered in my ear "It's yours. Merry Christmas". I jumped for joy. I love these kinds of things. Past down from generations. That have meaning and so much love attached. Thank you Oma. I love you forever.

As the clock was ticking closer and closer when the party began, the food was slowly pouring through the doors. I have never carved a turnkey nor a ham... but this night, I learned. Pretty interesting when it comes to carving. It's like an art. An art is well appreciate =)

However, I did discover the art of the spiral ham and I must admit... this is my kind of carving. All ya gotta do it pick and pull. Time saver and life saver. LOVE YOU SPIRAL HAM CREATOR! You are my new best friend! =)

Everyone came styling in their best Christmas attire. Especially this little cutie. She is my Godmothers baby girl, Kiki. She is almost as cute as my...

In order to receive your gift, it is tradition to sing as a family in front of Santa and my grandparents a Christmas tune. In my early years, I remember just having 6 performance being sung. My mother and her 5 siblings would sing with each of their families. But as the years went by the families multiplied as the next generation began to make their own families. So what was 6 performances is now 13 performances.

Our Christmas Card Display & Family Room Reveal

CARD DISPLAY

I'm super proud of this display... We stated off by posting our Christmas cards on our fridge. It was fine for the first 5 cards, but any card after that began to look a bit cluttered. We were not able to appreciate each card our family and friends sent us =( So, I had to come up with a solution...

I took a 9 foot ribbon all dazzled in shimmer and wrapped it around a pillar that we did not cover in garland. Bought a set of regular clothes pins....

and VOILA! A neat and organized holiday card display where each and every card is appreciated and loved by all =) Not bad for a $5 DIY project! All smiles here!

Here is where the kid in us came out... Decked out in colorful nutcrackers which my husband adores!

3 stockings.... for myself, the hubs and our baby Zeus! This year, I'll keep the stockings simple and plain... but who knows how these stockings will look next year in 2012. (hehehe)

This amazing garland was given to us by my auntie Jeanie! Bless her heart... When she brought it over, it was love at first sight!

FEATURING: Our Christmas Dinning Room

Being that we've only resided here for a few months, this room isn't as full of furniture and decor as we wish it would be but we made due with what we had and decorated it the best we could.

So without further ado, I present to you... our dinning room!

We decided to relocate our end chairs that go with our dining set and bring them down to the formal area. We've been on the hunt for the perfect wing back chairs or over sized comfy chairs for this space, but once again, decided to work with what we got... and I think it looks mighty fine here =)

Simplicity...

I love it when you can take an old item such as this milk glass vase and recreate it into a modern arrangement just by piling pine cones inside...

My favorite part about decorating is thinking outside the box...

Flowers are not always a "must have" when creating the perfect centerpiece.

Here, I tool 3 apocrathy jars and filled them with simple holiday cheer:

One of my favorite parts of this room would have to be this pretty little display. Why? Because this gold leaf wreath compliments my parents mirror so well. This mirror means the world to me since it was one of the first items they purchased together as a married couple over 30 years ago.

And what is Christmas without a Nativity Scene?

After all, He is the reason for the season.

Wow, it's been a while since I've been back and boy it does it feel good! =) I missed ya'll! Since my last post back in June, there has been so much goin' on in our lives... IE: Our home is no longer under construction! YAY! It is now complete... well, almost... now we are filling up the rooms, slowly but definitely surely! I am one happy camper =)

On another note which may be the biggest contributor on me coming back is that it is CHRISTMAS! My most absolute favorite time of the year. Truth be told, I think I'm a little crazy about it. One would ask themselves, "Why would Jaryce be so crazy about a holiday?" and my answer to you would be, "Well, all my life I have been the Christmas elf. I've helped pretty much everyone in my family decorate their trees as well as decking their house out with holiday cheer. Come to think about it, I can't recall a year where I haven't decorated at least 3-4 houses dueing the holiday season. Through the years of decorating others homes, I have been able to make mental notes of what I would want and what I don't want. I've pretty much been imagining how my home would be on it's first Christmas and I am ecstatic to finally dress it up in everything I hoped it would be.

But in order to make my dream a reality, I started shopping for decor a few years back. No, I did not have a tree to decorate nor did I have a house to fill up, but I did know that one day, I will have a home and it will be ready for the holidays. And when that time comes, it will be nothing short of spectacular.

So for the last 3 years, I did major "after the holiday" sale shopping and am excited to finally display my treasures! =)

So, without further ado, I present, our 1st CHRISTmas Tree!

To dress up a simple topiary, alls ya gotta do is add lights and poinsettias and BAM.... gorg!!

For me, vintage ornaments gives trees that sense of comfort, that homey feeling, that little warmness we all love to feel... especially, when they are passed down from someone near and dear to your heart.... like a grandmother ♥ {below}

I went with a color scheme of gold... typically, when decorating within a certain color, I like to give it more depth by using all different shades of that color. In this instance... golds, champagnes, taupes and other colors of the same palette such as browns and bronzes give this tree the perfect glow without being overbearing with GOLD.

The key to my heart, which Mr. Everything holds!

Dripping crystals make me smile =)

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for when shopping for a tree skirt.

1. The color cream to soften the overall look
2. The crystals to shine when reflecting from the lights. {{There's nothing like a little bling}}

3. And the faux fur to give it the glam that this tree is SCREAMING!

Some ideas I've been pondering...
1. Possibly adding some copper swag throughout the tree
2. Adding bunched up pointsettias in browns, golds and creams to act as a tree topper

3. Giving the tree more texture by adding twigs sticking out

Welp, there ya have it. Our 1st Christmas Tree! =)

Demo Part II

So, the demo has been a little sluggish since we haven't gotten the electricity up and running. Our contractor brought in a generator but unfortunately isn't producing the power that is needed. Cross your fingers that we get our power on by next week!

Oh Mr. Electrical... you have been a pain in our a$$ during the time of purchase. NOT COOL! I am so happy to have PG&E replace you. PEACE OUT!

Oh my poor sweet sink. What ever happened to you? You leak, your faucet isn't attached and you do not have a sprayer. Poor thing. It is time to retire you.

That are a few spaces I did not post that will be getting a new face lift. I will update that soon.

House Hunting: WE GOT THE HOUSE!!

After 90 days of hustling, this is what we got.

Isn't she a beaut!

Mr. Wonderful and I decided we wanted a fixer upper to make our oWn. What was most important was the layout, space and foundation that brought warmth and charm. We are truly blessed to get exactly that!

There are a few things that we will be changing in this home and in fact, our contractor has been ripping A LOT out this past week! YAY! But before I get to the fun stuff, I would like to take you all down memory lane of what really happened while purchasing this home.

Are you ready? I's suggest you buckle up because this, my friend, is going to be a bumpy road!

TIME LINE TO HOME OWNERSHIP!

JANUARY 12 - Submitted our first offer with an FHA loan (offer wasn't accepted due to home not being up to FHA level of expectations)
JANUARY 13 - Submitted 2nd offer using a Homepath loan
JANUARY 20 - Offer accepted
JANUARY 27 - We're in contract. Loan process begins
FEBRUARY 20 - Didn't get approved with Homeloan and switch to a 203k Rehab Loan. We spoke with the sellers (Fannie Mae) transaction Coordinator and made a verbal agreement that we were doing so. The coordinator said to proceed with the new loan
MARCH 7 - Fannie Mae PULLED THE DAMN PLUG! Looks like there is no such thing as a "Verbal Agreement" in the Real Estate world. RULE OF THUMB: If there is any changes when purchasing a house... WRITE AN ADDENDUM!! No Qs asked! Just do it!
MARCH 8 - House was put back on Market and we resubmitted our offer.
MARCH 9 - Bidding War with two other offers! (UGH, so annoying)
MARCH 14 - WE WON and is back in the house! Wahoo!
MARCH 15 - {A 203k loan is a rehab loan meaning you must hire a contractor to fix the home in up and running condition} Got 3 bids from 3 different contractors to fix the house.
APRIL 15 - Got an appraisal done on the home. It came back 20k under our contract price! {OMG! You have got to be kidding me, right?!}
APRIL 16 - Negotiated with Fannie Mae to lower the contact price.
APRIL 20 - Fannie Mae met us half way and lowered it 10k and we had to come up with the other 10k to meet appraisal.
APRIL 28 - LOAN WAS FUNDED!!
APRIL 29 - WE GOT THE KEYS!!!!!!

And that's a wrap ladies and gents. Mr. Everything and I have a home! A home to finally call OUR HOME! Yeehaw.

HOUSE HUNTING: Signing Docs!!

And we finally get to meet face to face with Mr. Escrow!

Oh hello Stewart Title. What a pleasure meeting your acquaintance. Especially under these circumstances. Rather special I must say! ;)

Below is a picture of the million pages of signing. Thank goodness for our mom to be there to read between the lines. She has been a saving grace in this process and I am so glad she was with us till the end.

{{Note the tired look on my face! This is how one looks after 90 days in contract. Swollen, tired and just doooone! lol}}

After a few hours of signing docs and submitting our deposit we decided the best way to end the night is to have breakfast as our dinner! And that is exactly what we did. Yummmm. The best!

Just a few more days until it's ours!! YAY!

HOUSE HUNTING: Rumor Has It.....

that today will be the day we sign our docs for our loan!

SERIOUSLY?!! I am pinching myself right now. We have been in contract with this home since January 27th! And boy has it been a roller coaster. We have gone through the ringer with this home. With in these last 3 months we have went far and beyond to make this happen. Such as: submitting 3 offers to finally get ours accepted. Submitted first with a Homepath Loan, ran out of time, the sellers pulled the plug and re-listed it! UGH, most devastating time in my life! Then we resubmitted our offer, went into a bidding war with 2 other offers. And without raising our offer... we won and were officially back in contract as of March 24th. We decided to go with a FHA 203K Loan which is a rehab program for homes that require a little elbow grease. {{Thank the Lord for this laon! Although the process is more tedious and time consuming than the average laon, the benefits freaking ROCK THE NATION! More deeds to come once we move in}} And a few weeks later, here we are... awaiting the call from the underwriter to schedule an appointment to sign docs. They say we should be funded by FRIDAY! eeeek!

So from this day till Friday, I will be dreaming of this sign!

And once I see that sign come to life, I will finally be able to take a picture that I've been dreaming of since the beginning of our house hunting journey back in November 2010.

Stay tune and don't skip a beat. As soon as I get these key to our home, I will be BACK IN THE GAME and my DIY wand will be once again in full effect!!

HOUSE HUNTING: OFFER ACCEPTED!!

YEEHAW! We are officially in contract with this beaut!

After hearing the grrreat news, first things first! I had to make sure this wasn't a dream! I google searched the address and this is what I found!

I was tickled pink to see the house titled "sale pending". Come to think about it, I think my heart skipped a beat!!

Mr. AWESOME and I got pretty much everything on our must-have list and so much more! We were content with 3 bedrooms. Well, we got four! Technically five, but we'll use that for the kings quarters. A pool was a MUST! We got it {doing the happy dance} plus a spa that spills into the pool! What a dream. The kitchen is perfect in size and the family room is just full of charm! We had to compromise the master suite. In a perfect world, we were hoping for a soaking tub and dual sinks, but we figured everything else we're getting out of this home overcompensates the mini master bath. We're good!

The space that excites me most is the formal dining room. This is one space I did not want to give up while searching. I've always dreamt of hosting dinner parties where family and friends could break bread over good conversations and wine. So what better place to accomplish that setting other than an intimate space such as this!

OH GAWD, it's just beautiful! Notice the pillars and the multi-layered vaulted ceiling. It also has recessed lighting that dims to the perfect settings. I have big plans for this room. You just wait and see!

Tiana my love...

You win my heart every time I come encounter with your gorgeous smile. You light the room with your presence and warm it up with your big hugs and kisses. You're the third one with my nieces and nephews and I am so bLESsed to have you in my life.

Last Friday, I surprised you at your dance class. You've been dancing for the last couple of months and I am just amazed at how much you have grown. You've made so many friends. You mentioned that a little boy named Michael is your best dancing buddy.

When it is your turn on the balance beam you tend to get a little nervous.

But after a few steps with your instructor, you slowly build up courage and you are off all by yourself! Look at you go!

There is never a hesitation on the trampoline. You have the time of your life on that thing! It's so adorable watching your curls bounce up and down.

You've become so flexible. You're instructor says you'll be in the splits in no time! Your mommy was always so good at that. At one time. she was able to do all three slits! And ya wanna know a little secret? I'm sure she can still do it. Ask her next time! ;)

After each of your performances, all your buddies forms a line to take a bow.

You're so proud of yourself after your dances. You have the hugest grin on your face as if you were saying in your mind "I DID IT!"

After class, you get to go crazy for a bit. And crazy is exactly what you do! WITH HULA HOOPS! You see the other kids twirling their hoops around their hips and the competitive spirit comes out. You attempt to follow their lead.

But after a few attempts, you come to realize that that thing just aint spinnin'.

So when in doubt... throw that thing around! You're awesome at that! You know how to make it roll as if it were a wheel.

And at times, you can even pop-a-wheelie! YEEHAW!

In the car, you love to sing the coolest songs out. Your current listening tune is the Itsy Bitsy Spider. And you hit every note there is to hit! You're my little ROCK STAR!! YEA baaaby!

You love Auntie Toni's puppy, Baby Gurl. You always cuddle her. When Uncle Lovely holds her, you're always starring to make sure he is treating her with the same love and care as you do!

You have a personality that is bigger than this world!! You're hilarious!! When I ask you to strike a pose for auntie... this is what you do! haha! Had to capture this! Because this is who you are!

Your fascination for water is growing.

You love to be outside with your new favorite outdoor toys.... sticks!

Tiana my love... you are the only 3 year old that I can talk to on the phone with for a whole entire hour. You're so smart and the darnedest things come out of that little mouth of yours! So funny! Sometimes, we can talk all the way up to your bedtime. And I'm afraid that's when mommy starts to get a wee bit frustrated. She can not get us off the phone. I do have to admit that I don't help the situation since I tell you to tell mommy "NO! I want to talk to Auntie Jaryce." lol. I don't think she is buying it any more. So we may have to change our phone times a little earlier in the day =)

You were one of the 3 little angels {flower girls} that showered us with flowers on my wedding day. They all fell in love with you when you were walking down the aisle. Why? Because you were shushing everyone when they were saying "awww, how cute!" Why? Because mommy and daddy told you that you have to be verrrry quiet and be well behaved when you walk down the aisle. But in your mind, that meant, if you had to behave, EVERYONE had to behave. lol. We have it all on video. Too cute!

Mommy and daddy love you more than life itself. I don't think your daddy would know what to do with himself with out you in his life. Mommy says you are her best friend. She takes the best care of you. And makes sure she is right by you when you wake up to tell you how beautiful you are.

Although you're mommy's best friend... I know who your best friend is... ME!!! You tell me all the time. "Auntie Jaryce, you mah bess fren!"

Tiana, thank you for bringing so much fun, laughter and tons of smiles in my life. You are the coolest 3 year old around! Keep smiling baby doll.

Looking down on us...

I've been having a few complications with this month’s cycle where I've been experiencing unusual and excessive bleeding. My cramps were a little more painful but I thought it was just a normal reaction due to "getting older"? I asked a couple of friends and co-workers and was told not to worry. Some women can have their menstrual cycle for months on end. So, I decided to opt out of seeking medical advice. Until, my abdominal pains were unbearable.

Last week Thursday, I called the advice nurse. We scheduled an appointment for Monday and we were set to go.

The day before yesterday was the big day. I arrived at the OBYN clinic expecting the usual check up. But this time, it inquired a urine sample. I thought it was a little odd, but better to be sure, right? Moments later, the nurse came back with news of a positive pregnancy. Mr. Everything and I quickly grasped each other’s hands and smiled. We were shocked but pleasantly shocked.

The nurse then rolls in the ultra sound equipment and it was time to check for a heartbeat or any signs of the itty-bitty sack. Our doctor searched and searched and searched until she couldn't search any more. She was unable to locate a heartbeat or the sack but didn't want to assume with out a second opinion.

She called in another doctor and which sadly had the same answer. They told us that we were experiencing a miscarriage. We were instructed to take it easy and to get plenty of rest. But first, we must head over to the laboratory and get blood work to determine where exactly my hormones stand and how far along I am in my miscarriage.

We did so, and a few hours later, we received a call which informed is that my hormone level was at a 460, meaning the baby is slowly making its way out. She made an appointment for next week to take another blood test. She wants to oversee the progress of the miscarriage to ensure the pregnancy isn't anywhere else other than the uterus.

Yesterday was a long day. Mr. Lovely and I found out we were pregnant and miscarrying all in one day. Although we were not preparing for parenthood, we would have been more than ready to become a mommy and daddy at that very moment.

We know our God has a plan for us and it just so happens a baby isn't apart of that plan... at least for now. All in God's time, right? Right! For now, we are comforted to know that we have our very own angel shining down on us and most of all, we know our baby is in good hands.

We almost bought a NIGHTMARE on Elm Street home!

WARNING: This is not your usual post filled with sunshine rays and twinkling stars... It is a tragedy that I just so happened to stumble across while searching for our new home. If you're not so keen with death, I'd suggest to stop by tomorrow for my next post. For the rest of y'all, please read along...

A few months back in December, Ramon and I viewed 8 homes in one day and fell in love with two. House#1: A huge home sitting on a huge lot and in need of upgrades. House #2: Smaller home with all upgrades.

We decided to put in offer an on house #1. Later that night, all we could think about was house #2. So the next morning, we called our realtor and asked her to pull our offer. We drove to house #2 just to make sure we were making the right decision. We were excited. We were thrilled! We knew this was the one!

As we were walking towards the house, I noticed a lady down the street starring at us. I thought to myself, YES! This is perfect time to ask her what she thinks of the neighborhood. So I did just that. I walked up to her, introduced myself and shook her hand. She told me how quiet and peaceful the area was. I of course grinned ear to ear. That was a great sign since Mr. Lovely and I want to start a family of our own soon. She asked me which home I was interested in. I pointed down the street and my first glance back at her I noticed her whole demeanor changed. It was written all over her face that she had some concerns. She told me that that home is probably the best on the block and then she proceeded to ask if I was okay with everything that went on. I crossed my arms, shrugged my shoulders and shook my head side to side. I replied with "um, I know that someone had passed away... naturally? Possible in an elderly home?" She then got very upset and tears started forming in the corners of her eyes. I asked her what happened and she responded very stern "Ya know! They're suppose to tell you these kinds of things. These things MUST BE DISCLOSED!" I asked her again, what had happened?

and then she responded...

The family that lived in this home were her good friends. She and they were the first owners on the block so naturally they had a great bond.

A few months back, June to be exact, the husband found out the wife was having an affair on him. Later that night, he sent their 14yr daughter and 9yr son off to their friends house for a sleep over. He drove back home, walked into the bedroom and shot his wife in the head. He then himself shortly after. This home now became a murder-suicide scene.

When we first viewed the property, we thought it was kind of cool that they staged the place. But sweetie. That was no staging... that was their furniture! Their dishes.

Their office and paper work. We thought it was a little odd that a HUGE chunk of carpet was ripped out of the masters floor and the mattress was missing from the bedroom set.

The spookiest part about this is in the "her" closet... her clothes were still hanging up

and his truck was still parked in the driveway... in the same position... after he dropped off his kids to proceed in this frightful event.

The saddest part is that you could tell which kid slept in which room. You could see how they set their rooms up by looking at the dresser/bed/desk/shelves indents in the carpets. The boys room was painted blue and still had a few posters/pics of himself and friends hanging on the wall and a few toys still left in the closet. The girls room was painted purple, hangers still in the closet and a few school supplies left.

Their food was still in the darn pantry. It would be one thing to walk in there bare of nothing and try to paint a picture but in this home, you didn't even have to try. It speaks for itself.

The weirdest thing about it is this tragic incident happened on my bach night. Two weeks before our wedding. It was the time in our lives where we started our marriage and it was the time where theirs literally ended. So sad.

So to say the least... the hunt continues....

House Hunting: 40 homes...

and counting!

Mr. Special and I have seen just about every type of home you could imagine. Due to the downward spiral of the economy, we have been bLESsed to see more than just the "average" starter home. So to say the least, we are pushing harder than ever to get into a home as soon as we can.

On our "Must Have" list, we decided that a home just isn't a home without a formal dining room. We plan to host many dinner parties and intimate ones as well. What better way to do so but by having an area that is strictly dedicated to just that!

It gets super hot in the city we will be relocating to. Like sweaty hot. Like typically... 85-100 degrees hot on every summer day. The only way to cool off and thoroughly enjoy that blazing sun is by taking a dip into a swimming pool.

A two story home! We absolutely need our entertaining space completely and entirely separate from our sleeping space. Since Mr. Lovely and I have conflicting hours, quiet time in our bedroom is a must, around the clock.

A beautiful Chef's kitchen is a dream, not a must. However, I will settle for a kitchen that has potential to become a chefs kitchen... one day... some day....

and a few more to add to this list would be...

4 bedrooms

2.5 baths

fireplace

front yard (meaning grass!)

I know compromises are in line, but figured I'd share before those compromises take place.

And the House Hunt BEGINS!

As of November of last year, Mr. Wonderful and I began our very first adventure as husband and wife. We like to call it PROJECT: HOME!

Our quest in finding our first home has been some what of a ... emotional roller coaster? That may even be an understatement. Thus far, we have viewed over 45 homes. Yup, you read right! 45 homes! We've seen them all! From old fixer uppers to grand and over the top homes. We've seen newly built homes with open floor plans and we've seen older homes where each room offered it's own charm.

When it comes down to it, Mr. Wonderful and I finally decided on what type of home fits our personalities best. We've completely fallen in love with the style and grace of older homes. Homes filled with stories and homes with with charm. Homes that have brick fireplaces and homes that offers a "separate" room for dining. A home where guests are greeted by a grand foyer and followed by a chefs kitchen. lol, yup, that is what we decided on. Sounds like a dream... doesn't it?

Well, I am happy to say, that we have found just that. Or at least close enough to it. lol. Cross your fingers that we score! {pics coming soon}

Until then, I have decided to play "make-believe" in this home.

And here "I am" greeting my guests. lol.

RECAP: Grand Exit!

This was the perfect way to end the night! We had everyone line up in two parallel lines. We ran through and everyone was clapping and cheering for us.

At the end of the stairs, our SOMETHING BLUE awaited our arrival. My aunt and uncle were kind enough to serve us as the "getaway driver" in their 1979 SS Camero! It was a HIT!!

I've been asked... what happens after you blog about your wedding? Hmmm, good question. I never really sat down to take the time to think about "blog life" after the wedding

.... so I thought... and I thought.... and I thought.

And guess what, looks like I'm here to stay. There has been so much going on with our lives and what better way to express but here! With our thoughts and pictures along the way.

So from here on out... this blog will be utilized to chronicle our lives as we know it.

RECAP! Wedding Details! Details! Details!

Isn't it the little things that make it count. That make the hours spent till wee morning of crafts and headaches all worth it. Well I'm one that says it DOES!! I mean, come on... you can see for yourself =)

Welcome to WORLD OF DETAILS!

Sign-In Table was so sentimental to me. We had a family tree which was represented in picture frames. In the center, it was an 8x10 colored picture of Ramon and I from our engagement photo session. On each side of our 8x7, there was a 5x7 black and white photo of our parents at their wedding. And then we followed the tradition by adding 4x7 picture frames of each set of grandparents also in black and white.

Another DIY project, well, SEMI, I had help from the infamous graphic designer, ILLUSTRATED BY ALEX!!

Another DIY project that I am so proud of. I love my table numbers!

Here is where my bridesmaids placed their bouquets at the head table.

Now on to the centerpieces!

We had beautiful tall organic arrangements. Filled with lush roses and hydrangeas and dripping crystals.

Another centerpiece was a simple dome of ivory roses. Simple and elegant.

And I loooved this last centerpiece. A DIY piece I might add. We had about 15 cylinder vases standing at varied heights. We dropped votive candles at the bottom and scattered a thick bed of roses around the vases. You could see these centerpieces from across the room! It completely illuminated the whole table.

When we opened the dance floor, we offered all the ladies to help themselves to a pair of Old Navy flip flops. They were in love with me by the end of the night. What a difference It makes to be comfy.

And another DIY project with the help of Alex! Our menus adorned with a clear crystal placed on the top and bottom.

RECAP: Donation Favors

Ramon and I decided on Donation Favors. We figured the best gift is the gift of giving. And what better way to accomplish that is by giving our guests 3 tokens. Each token signified $1. They were three charities to choose from. Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 4 The World and . They had the option to drop one token or drop all in the charity of their choice. At the end of the night, the DJ tallied up the tokens and announced how much would be donated to each charity. It was a HUGE hit!

Here, it is plain to see that everyone enjoyed choosing where they would like their donation to go. Everyone came up to me and thank Ramon and I for having a thought and selfless favor.

Each guest were greeted to a place setting such as this. The velum envelope located right above the dinner menu carried directions and the 3 gold tokens.

RECAP: Cake Cutting! Yum!

Our cake cutting was yet another amazing moment. We actually had our cake stationed in the cocktail/bar room and sat as the centerpiece of that room. So that meant we had to cut the cake outside of the ballroom which meant whoever wanted to witness this event had to get up from their chair and walk into another room. I thought this would be an issue, but to my surprise, the room was filled with our guests. That's what made it so amazing!

RECAP: INTRODUCTIONS

Our bridal party entrance was HIL-ARIOUS! People constantly came up to us saying it was the best entrance they have ever seen! My bridal party was off the hook! Each couple came into there own song of choice. One couple performed the fisherman catching a fish dance (La La La by Jay Z), another couple popped, locked and dropped it (Superman High by R Kelly), of course we HAD to have a couple break it down doing the robot (Blow the Whistle by Too Short) while the others were just wild'n out (Gangsta Nation by Westside Connection and Winner by Jaime Foxx) !!

And then there was the one who enjoyed every shot of tequila on the way to the venue. lol. I believe every bridal party has/had or will have one of these! lol. Can you guess which one I'm talking about? They guy or the girl? This couple funked out to Hypnotized by Biggie Smalls

But WAIT!! We can't forget about the Best Man and Maid of Honor coming out to Next Episode by Dr Dre!! GANGSTAS!!!

Check out my girl rockin' her thizz face!! HA! Love it!!

And last but definitely not least... MR & MRS RAMON NOBELA JR!! We came out to Swagga Like Us by T.I. and then remixed it with Run This Town Tonight by Jay Z ft Rihanna and Kanye West! We killed it!! Every single body in the building was on their feet JUICED!! Of course we had to gig it out.

RECAP: COCKTAIL HOUR!

The cocktail hour went by within a blink of an eye. After taking my bridal portraits, I raced to the cocktail hour to catch a glimpse of the event. It was beautiful. Passed hors d'oeuvres, a pianist playing the grand piano, guests sipping on brandy while the men enjoyed the bold blends of cigars we offered on the terrace.

I swear to you.... this will be the last time I will say this... I'm back!! I apologize for my loooong absence. I have missed you all dearly. I am back for good this time and ready to blog my heart away! Yee-Haw! I have so much to update you on, but for now, I will start where I left off.

After a 45 minute drive to our venue, our photographers we able to get some really intimate shots of my husband and I. It again, was another calm and peaceful moment. A little hot, sweaty and "oh my gosh, I want to take this veil off" moments here and there but for the most part.... I was just soaking in this intimate moment before partying it up with our guest list of 275 =)

During the cocktail hour, we decided to serve our guests cigars. Ramon definitely didn't want to miss out, so he hitched a ride down the street while my photographer and I were left alone. So what else can a bride and a photographer do but to... TAKE BRIDAL PORTRAITS! YAY =)

RECAP: Ceremony

Arriving at the church is where I suddenly felt a change in my all around aura. I was chocked up. I could hardly breath. Fainting was definitely on my "to do" list. I am not one to faint nor feel jittery or shaky. I thought I had mentally prepared myself for any "crazy" moments but it was evident that these feeling were happening and there was nothing I could do but to feel them and embrace them. So I did. I felt it all. Scared, frightened, nervous, happy, excited!

The bridal party fell into line....

Seeing my bridal party walk one by one out the door seemed like an eternity

but I was a good girl.

I waited...

and waited....

and waited.

It wasn't until my little flower girls, Tianna, Macayla and Aleah sprinkled the aisles with their adorable smiles.

When I saw the back for their pretty curly hair... the doors shut and BOOM! It was time! My father and I glanced at each other, took a deep breath and squeezed each others hands.

The doors opened and there I saw my handsome groom waiting at the other end of the aisle for me.

I've heard of stories being told of when a bride walks down the aisle the room freezes and you begin to hear soft gasps. Well, it's true! The room did freeze and I heard the gasps!

I heard soft voices saying things like "WOW!", "Awww", "She's beautiful" and "Look at her dress". All was very sweet and super flattering but my main focus was my soon to be husband at the other end.

Walking down that aisle seemed like it too a million years. But I was okay with that. I wanted to take my time and made sure I soaked every moment of this all up.

And there he was.

Yet another emotional moment. When it was time for my father to give me away... he unveiled me and held on to me sooo tight. I could actually feel him crying on my shoulder. I embraced this moment and then tried to pull away. He held on tighter. At that moment, I whispered in his ear and said "It's okay dad... I'll always be your little girl". He looked at me with a smile and wiped his tears away.

Turned around and gave Ramon a hug.

The ceremony was just as beautiful.

Our vows were said.

We were bonded as one.

Rings were exchanged

A promise of fortune was displayed.

There was only one thing left to do!

THE KISS!

I then looked into his eyes and said "WE DID IT!"

The priest announced us for the first time as Mr and Mrs Ramon Nobela Jr!

The church cheered

Okay... seriously.... can we just take a moment here..... I am a true Grand-daddy's girl (as well as a daddy's girl). My grandfather stopped me in my tracks right before we had to take altar pics... He threw himself in my arms and started crying which of course played the domino effect on me. Oh how I love this sweet precious moment!

RECAP: On My Way to Say "I DO"!

Another calm moment. I really felt unstoppable! I never felt so right as I did at this moment. I was ready to become Mrs. Nobela!

My Maid of Honor, Jenni, was so good to me. She never once left my side. Without her, I do not know what I would've done.

Walking towards our stretch hummer was when the reality of this day started to kick in.

hehehe, check out my face in the photo below. Can we say "OH EM GEE"! eeek!

As for my nerves.... the moment of truth was now.... the first step I took... out of the hummer... onto church grounds.... where I would be professing my love.... in front of 275 people....

RECAP: Getting Ready

Getting Ready was AMAZING! I had this indescribable feeling of calmness and serenity. It was a feeling I never felt before. At that very moment, I knew this was my day and no one could or nothing could ruin it. My morning was filled with my nearest and dearest family and friends nibbling on morning brunch and sipping mimosas. My hair designers and make up artists arrived bright and early to get my girls of 8 all dolled up.

My Attire

Putting on my dress meant my mom and sister had to be there. I wouldn't have it any way. My mom has been such an angel to me during the whole dress fiasco! She was there from the very beginning and I insisted on her being there for the end. She helped me step into my dress. She zipped up my dress and clasped on my custom made swarovski crystal belt she had made just for me. She teared as I suspected. My mom is the best! I wouldn't have had it any other way then her getting me dressed!

HIS TURN!

I'm back & MARRIED!!!

WOW! Has it really been this long since the last time I posted? OH-EM-GEE! Bad Jaryce! Bad Jaryce. I do apologize for my absence and hope to be a better blogger starting today. I have some great and exciting pictures to show you. Although, I have yet to receive my professional wedding pics, I have decided to catch you up from where I left off =)

MY BRIDAL SHOWER!!

This day was a perfect day! Beautiful weather, delicious food and wonder girls. We decided to have a garden tea party at my Godmothers house.

As you entered the house, every guest was greeted by my very own DIY moss letters.

Our table settings were just right. It set the mood for a girlie time.

We set the table with floor length white table linens and topped it off with a chocolate brown satin overlay. Each place setting included a luncheon plate, saucer, silverware, glass goblet, champagne flute and a tea cup of course. Oh, and we can't forget about the lovely pink linen napkin adorning each plate =)

One of my favorite details were my favors!! Truly from the heart... I created the perfect gift for the perfect garden tea party. And what better way to thank them other than giving them a potted flowers =)

I personalized each pot with a hand written Thank You note =)

The dessert table is one of my all time favs. I was able to have all my favorite sweets all on one table. To say the least, I was definitely not on my diet. hehe

We were graced by my favorite chocolate candies: Truffles, Almond Rochas, Ferrero Rochers

On the same side of the table, you cold also find mini cheese cakes, chocolate & almond biscottis and the cutest tea cookies that my lovely cousin Marie brought =)

In the center of the table is what I like to call my carb-attack! Absolutely sinful! We were blessed the best Madelaine cookies, mini brownies and mini cinarolls.

And last but not least, my very own creation.... THE CUPCAKE DISPLAY!

I ordered the chocolate cupcakes with pink frosting from a local grocery store. The pretty little wrappers were purchased from Save On Crafts and the cutie little pearled toppings were from my "future" favorite home store, Williams Sonoma.

ooohhhh. ahhhhhh.

We decided to keep the food light and delicate, being that it was 80 degrees out. So we decided to serve croissant sandwiches, Swedish meatballs, cheese assortment, quiche, pot

ato & macaroni salad and out beautiful fruit bouquet from edible arrangements.

Our beverage station contained of 4 different types of beverages. Ice tea, lemonade, water and of course, hot tea.

We also served red and white wine. Each bottle was personalized a pretty little label.

We wanted to impact the pool with floating lily pads, but they all seemed to migrate to one side of the pool =(

Another cool detail was my ENORMOUS DIY moss letter. The N represents my new last name.

Oh, and did I mention? It was not only a garden tea party, but everyone was required to wear a hat! YAY! Look how much fun we had!

Our Dance Floor Decal is IN!

We totally fell for all the hype of a dance floor decal... and what do ya know? WE GOT ONE!!!

Thanks to Kelly from Wallspoken (a vendor on etsy) for making us this incredible decal. It measures out to a whopping 40x40 decal and is finished in a creamy color Wallspoken calls linen.

So we all know that a "dance floor decal is meant for the "dance floor", right? Well I'm rethinking the actual location for this decal. I was thinking the foyer??? The decal would look fab on the marble tiling and it would give the first "WOW" factor as you first walk in.... hmmmm?

Our Custom Made Matchboxes!

To go along with our cigar bar, we decided to have our guests light each cigar with a swanky custom made matchbox made specially for our big day!

We ordered 100 of them babies from The Knot Wedding Shop.

We decided on a metallic bronze box topped off with gold foiling for the print.

We used the ever-so famous quote for matches "The Perfect Match" and customized it by adding our names and wedding date.

YAY! I'm so happy with them. Now our cigar bar is COMPLETE!!

DIY Moss Letters!!!

For those of you who aren't aware, I am being thrown the best bridal shower ever. And what better way to celebrate a bridal shower other than a having a GARDEN TEA PARTY! Yay!

I thought moss letters would be a perfect addition and decided to take up this crazy DIY project!

I purchased ENORMOUS letters {monogram style} from Mr. Woody {a seller on etsy of course!}. I had all 3 letters custom sized. The "J" and "R" stands 18 inches tall as the "N" stands a whopping 28 inches. haha. {a little overboard can ya say?}

I purchased the vibrant green sheet moss from Natural Green Moss Products via eBay. I chose "sheet moss" because it is easier to work with and finished the letters with a more clean and even look as oppose to using loose moss.

All that was left to do was to cut by size...

and glue the sheet moss to the wooden letter.

After about 2 hours of perfecting my moss gluing mojo, I was very, very please with the outcome!

Ta-Dah!!

And there ya have it! Easy, breezy, beautiful moss covered letters!

DIY Unity Candles!

This was probably one of my favorite DIY projects. Not only was it easy breezy but the sentimental value behind these 3 candles. WOW! Unity! Where two becomes one. YIKES! :p

Ramon and I had a discussion about us "two" will "become one"! Ya know, like, how will we communicate as husband and wife. Who will we handle the funds. We even went over the topic of {a few years from now} who will get the kids ready. HA!

Here's our GAME PLAN: Ramon will get ready first. While he's getting ready, I'll get the kid{s} ready. After they're ready, Ramon will relieve me and I'll start getting ready. lol. Ramon even said they'll have movie time since it takes me FOREVER to get ready. {hey, what can I say? I like taking my time}

Anywho, back to the candles. lol

DIY Reserve Signs!

Ramon and I opted out on decorating our ceremony. We decided to leave our church just the way it is. However, we did get to have a little bit of fun making awesome reserve signs for our parents, bridal party and Godparents.

The design was made by me and Alex brought it o life.

We decided to spruce it up a bit by adorning both flourishes with a simple amber crystal which was purchased in the dollar bin at Michael's! We also incorporated a black plash using a gold shimmery card stock paper to boarder the main sign.

We attached a 2.5 inch double faced satin ribbon in a "old gold" color to use to hang on the pews of the church. To give the ribbon a finished look, we clipped the edges and sealed it with clear nail polish to avoid from fraying.

We made a total of 6 signs. This was probably the easiest DIY project by far!

YAY for another thing checked off the list! Phew!

DIY MENU!!!

With only seven and a half weeks left, our menus have been designed and ready for mass production. I am so happy to admit, I designed these lovelies and the famous Alex of Illustrated by Alex brought them to life {I totally heart her}

To add more dimension, we decided to embellish each menu with two beautiful crystal rhinestones

The flourish was probably the most important design aspect I just had to have. I searched and searched for months for the perfect design and I must say, I think I found a WINNER!

Since time is quickly passing and expenses are running rapidly, we decided to take a practical route by adding a boarder to our menu's. I must say, we made the right decision. The boarder definitely completed the look with money and time saved! =)

And check our our place settings with our menus acting as the center of attention.

What a show off! lol

We really wanted something unique when it came to our napkin treatment. We played around and this is what we came up with.

We'll be taking advantage of our venues "stock" linen napkins and presenting them like so. A pretty bow tie that has been incorporated throughout our wedding.

We completed the look by wrapping a 2 inch satin gold ribbon

for being a MIA lately. I have lost two aunts this past month due to breast cancer. My last was this past Saturday. So for the next couple of days, my time will be tied to mourn the loss of my loved ones.

OH EM GEE! I just got my custom made flowers for my myself and also my girls to wear on the big day!

Can I just say how much I heart All That Zazz who created these beauties for me. She is nothing short of AMAZING, FABULOUS and TALENTED! It truly shows in her products. Her communication is out of this world! She listened to all my wants and needs and granted each and every one of them! What a doll!

I was so adamant on having my flower be exactly 4 inches. Nothing more and definitely nothing less. She's so cute. In every one of her "convos" to me, she made sure she included a picture that my flower was exactly 4 inches. {LOVE}

And the whole shebang together!

I am beyond ecstatic to have found amazing seller/designer/creator such as Christina. She made this experience a pleasant breeze. She has got to be my favorite experience thus on etsy.

Oh, and did I tell you.... since I ordered in bulk and caught one of her awesome deals, I only paid $83 for 9 flowers?! I repeat, $83 for 9 flowers. Gah, it doesn't get any better than that ;)

INVITES are out! Guess who's VIP?!

Our wedding invitations were mailed out on Monday and BOY DOES IT FEEL GREAT!

Ramon and I wanted to extend our invites to a few VIP's such as....

The Honorable Barack Obama and the First Lady, Michelle.

THE POPE! We had to wait in line to mail his invitation since it had to be sent out of the country. Look at all his special and stamps and stickers he got!

Last but not least, we sent an invitation to our governor, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Swarzenegger aka THE GOVERNATOR! lol

We sent these invites in hopes to receive the awesome congratulatory letters from our president and the California Governator include a very special blessing from the Pope.

{I tried to zoom in on the address' for those of you who want to send them an invitation as well. If you can't make it out, just let me know and I'll send you an email}

DIY Head Table Mock Up!!!

As most of you already know, here a few posts back, these two gorgeous table scapes have been my head table inspiration.

And now that I finally {almost} have all of my supplies, I was able to do a quick mock up!

NOTE: My champagne satin linens are in the mail. They will be swagged =)

There will be 9 white urns that I spay painted white and hand painted gold inside to include the trim. Also, each urn will hold my bridesmaids all white rose bouquets.

In between each urn, there will be 4 candles varied in height. 3 on stems and one as just as a votive. All candles used are shades of ivory.

For these table scape, I broke about 18 white and cream roses to make a thick blanket of petals. I also hand opened about 6 cream roses to place randomly on the bed of roses. {I figured this number will increase x4 on the day of}

I will also be incorporating my gold chargers on each place setting to include an ivory napkin with our menu tucked in each. {Still debating if I should wrap their place cards around the napkins or just leave as a traditional card. hmmm?}

And of course the stemware, flatware and other little randoms are missing. But we'll leave that up to venue to take care of ;)

As of now, I have yet to decide how to dress up our little rosey cheeked girlies. Why must everything be a debate?

Do I want little fairies or do I want little princesses? Do I want classic or do I want chic? Do I want their hair up or down? Do I want a flower in their hair or do I want it on their sash?

GEEZ LAWEEZ! Somebody STOP ME! Actually on second thought... don't. I need to get to the bottom of my flower girl dilemma. So, weekend... here I come!!!

MY CUSTOM MADE GARTERS ARE HERE!!

Choosing a garter was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I thought all you needed was a piece of material to hug your leg and throw to a hungry pack of wolves? If that's the case, shopping for a set should be easy, right? WRONG!

I searched two whole weeks for the perfect garter set until I made the verdict! I asked myself, why did it take you so long to make a decision? I guess the only way to answer that is: I was looking for something more personable rather than your typical "Go Sports Team" garter or the one with tons of lace on it. I wanted something a bit modern, of course elegant and wanted to call this piece my very own.

It wasn't till I crossed paths with Lola in Lace who agreed on helping make my garter dream a reality.

She was such a doll during this whole process. She granted each and every one of my wishes.

And boy was it fuuuuun!!!

We actually weren't going to register at all, but was advised by many just in case we were left with unwanted gifts. So.... with much thought... we did and had a blast doing it ;)

One of Ramon's MUST HAVES was a knife set by Henckels. He just can't get enough of these knives. lol What a cutie!

One of my favorite sets on our registry was the Belgique Stainless Steel pots and pans set from the Tools of Steel line. Since Macy's no longer holds the copper sets, I figured this was second best.

I think Ramon's past life was lived as a baker. I must admit, he sure knows his way around the kitchen. LOVES IT!!

I saved the best for last.....

Good Grips POP containers.

It's no lie with my family that I have been eyeing this set for about 6 months now. It keeps all your goods nicely fresh and is a great way to keep items organized at it's best.

To say the least, Ramon and I had a blast. And to think, we were gonna past up something as exciting as REGISTERING? William Sanoma.... are you worthy? hmmm, not sure. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

But before I go, I just wanted to share with your the San Francisco skyline as we were returning home. We literally live a block away from this view. Ahhhh, isn't it just lovely!

Ramon FINALLY picked out the men attire!

I am so happy right now. My boo-thang finally picked out the attire for his entourage.

He, the groomsmen, ushers, bearers and our fathers will be purchasing their attire ate the Mens Warehouse. Our consultant was such a doll helping us {him} pick out the best tux for each and everyone of the tux options. I just love a good and honest consultant. And that's what we got! Thanks Aura for all of your professional advice. It made Ramon's job so much easier ;)

Ramon decided on a Calvin Klein Tuxedo. 2 button, non-vented tux with a satin notch lapel to include satin covered buttons.

He will embrace the alter in the tux above only to change the cumber bun with an ivory vest and an ivory bow tie =)

The groomsmen will be gracing us with a more affordable option. Joseph and Feiss tuxedo. One bottom, notch lapel adorned with an eggplant vest to include an eggplant bow tie.

Next: Make an appointment for the men's first fitting ;)

DIY INVITES: Part Four: Assembly Line

We had our first assembly line about two days ago and boy was it challenging.

At one end of the dinning room table, I had my FSIL, Melody sew the black satin ribbon. Yup, you heard right! S-E-W. I know, right?! Pretty insane. HA

Next to her sat my little brother/groomsman, Jaryd clipping one end of the rings with a strong and sturdy wire cutter.

And then there was my handsome future hubby lining up the satin ribbon and taping them on the back.

And my job was to secure the brooch onto the ribbon and tape the the main invite to a black panel card for a finished look.

Here is an overview of our assembly line.

About an hour into the project my brother and FSIL had to leave... so it was up to Ramon and I to put a dent into our production.

Three hours later, after Ramon and I busting our booties off by sewing, taping, cutting and clipping, we decided to do a count of the nights success.

We completed 23!!! HA! We looked at each other in shock. "huh, only 23? You have got to be kidding me." lol. So we counted again and with our heads tilted to the side, we accepted 23 completed invites.

Man-o-man. Boy do I know how to pick and put together one hell of a project. lol.

My next invite post will reveal our FULL AND COMPLETED INVITE!! woot woot! So please, come back and see what all the fuss is really about ;)

I bought about 200 of these crystal brooches at the San Francisco Jewelry Mart.

I have to be honest with you. They're not actually brooches just yet.

They're rings that I'll convert into brooches. There was no way in heck I was willing to cash out $3 to $5 per brooch, so I had to do what I do best. GET CREATIVE!!

Aren't these rings a beauty?

I couldn't decide which ones I liked best, so I had to have all of them. hehe

And although this is not bling bling, I have purchased 50 yards of black satin ribbon.

Now that I have all of my wedding invitation needs, it is time for MASS PRODUCTION!!

That's right ladies! I have letterpressed invites. eeeeeeekkk!

Now did I press them? I don't think so :p But did I design them.... of course I did. ;)

Can you believe I had these pressed over 10 months ago? HA! I told you I wasn't lying when I said I've been literally planning my invites for a year.

It took nothing but an hour for me to design and a week for my oh so fabulous presser, Aerialist Press to create them.

As for the designing aspect, I wanted something simple. So I decided to use this gorgeous flourish.

Well, to say the least, I am thrilled to have such a beautiful beginning to my DIY invites.

DIY INVITES: Part One

First off, I just want to apologize for being MIA. Life has consisted of so many wedding planning events. So with that being said, I have much to tell you.

In this post, I'd like to let you in a little somethin' somethin' that I have been working soooo hard on. OUR INVITATIONS!!

I have been working on our invites for over a year now. I repeat, over a year now. HA! I have done more research I had ever dreamed I would do. I guess you can call it my little secret addiction :/

A few days I ago I got a few boxes in the mail.

And I was pleasantly surprised to see my wedding invitation boxes happily awaiting my arrival from work.

I ordered 120 5x7 1/2 matte black jewelry boxes.

I purchased each box at 80 cents a piece from Box and Wrap. It definitely beats the $2 a piece price Paper Source was charging me.

I also received my order from Cards and Pockets.

I purchased 120 "black tie" 5x7 custom made pockets at $1.05 each. These pockets will hold my Maps, Directions, Accommodations, Additional Info and RSVP cards.

I also purchased 120 "black tie" 5x7 panel cards for 25 cents each. These will show case the actual invite that I got letterpressed =)

I am so happy they are finally here!!! I can't wait to start the MASS PRODUCTION this weekend.

All I have to say is wow. This highlight reel is amazing. Everyone has their own way of expressing themselves in their wedding and THIS couple did just that! I can't hide the fact that this wedding has me drawn like a moth to a flame.

The video has got to be the most sincere, honest, unique reel I have yet to see. I love how this video captured who and what the bride and groom are all about.

My Bridesmaids Bought Their Dresses!

We all met up in a cute little boutique called Dori Anne Veils located in Castro Valley. Although our visit wasn't the best and the owner was a tad bit rude, it was all worth it. Why? Because the price was right! Other boutiques were charging us $210 dollars for their gorgeous Bari Jay dresses and although we thought it was a fair price, I stumbled across this boutique which was offering the gown at $135 each. HA! So, of course, we were sold. Yea, we got scolded for being 10 minutes late and yea, the owner made a few rude comments to one of my bridesmaids about her measurements and yea, she told me not to try on a veil because it was very expensive..... hahahaha, need I say more? Absolutely not! Why? Because we saved about $75 per dress dealing with her. And that in itself was worth it. Oh well, ya win some {the price} and ya lose some {customer service}. But all in all, we made the best of it and left with a smile and of course a little extra cashola in the bank! lol

Yesterday, My MOH and myself headed to Vizions Hair Salon in Hayward, CA to meet up with my oh so fabulous hair dresser, Matt.

And then we took a 30 minute ride to Milpitas, CA to meet our gorgeous MUA, Jenny from A-List Make Up {thanks for the reco Vera Devera}

This is the style I will be wearing for the ceremony. I will be wearing a cathedral veil with a detachable blusher.

This is the style I will be wearing for the reception. The only difference is I'll be wearing an ivory flower of course.

You have no idea how ecstatic I am to have her in my presence. She is a beauty. It was a long and trying road trying to find her, but I did and she ain't going no where. As soon as I got off of work, I drove straight to my mothers house, ran to her room, jetted to the closet and threw on my wedding dress. {{sigh}} I wonder how long this will last for.

As posted in here, I had revealed a little sneaky peak to get the party rolling, well now, I think I'll let you see a little more. {hehehe, sounds kind of raunchy, huh? lol}

Here she is!

As you already know, this is just the beginning stages of this dress. By the time I am through with her, it will surely be one of a kind. And she's all mine. {hmmm, now I just have to name her. lol}

YAY! Transportation, BOOKED!

Despite the rain and thunder the SF Bay Area had this past Friday, there was no way it was going to stop Ramon and I from booking our transportation that day. We hopped in the car, filled up the tank and drove about 45 minutes to Santa Clara where we would finally get to test our our soon to be wedding day transportation! This was one of Ramon's duties and I think he did a great job at picking the best.

We decided on a 2009 stretch H2 Hummer. BLACK! And of course, everyone had to put in their two cents in on why they thought black was inappropriate for a wedding and white would be a more better fit. Yea, whatever. lol. So I guess it's a good thing that Ramon and I aren't like everyone else, huh? We prefer black because it has a more defined look. More sleek. More fashionable. Although I do like the white H2, I'm going to have to side with Ramon on this one.

ugh, can't you see why? :p

We decided to book our wedding day transportation through Le Grande Affaire Limousine Service and can I just tell you that this has been our best vendor experience by faarrrr. We enjoyed their services so much, we lost track of time and ended up talking with everyone for two and a half hours. HA! We even got to book our very own chauffeur! Shout out to HERM! Can't wait to work with you!

Chris from Le Grande Affaire went above and beyond his services. He is such a down to earth kind of guy. If it weren't for Chris and checking up on us every week, we probably would've never booked with them. He made our experience pleasantly hilarious! Shout out to Chris. You da man!

The hummer was booked as an all inclusive package. Roses, 3 bottles of champagne, red carpet, balloons, personal message on window, chauffeur, gas, mileage ect. {Hence, we did not move forward with the balloons and message :/}

This additional will sure to be a hit for our bridal party. After all, they do deserve the very best!!

Making RSVP life easier!

Invisible ink pens?...

Yup, that's right. When I first started planning my wedding, I saw a post on Project Wedding that raved about how useful an invisible ink pen can be for RSVPs. We've all heard the horror stories RSVPs can bring. Guests adding more than initially was annotated on the RSVP card, guests forgetting to write their names on the RSVP card, unable to read the guests hand writing and the list goes on and on. So I decided to take my friends advice and move forward with purchasing a "spy pen"

Here's how it works.

On the back of your RSVP card, simply write the invited guests name indicating how many seats will be reserved per RSVP. Guests will fill in the blanks accordingly {hopefully} and mail it back. Once you receive it and the information isn't properly filled, just flip the card over, see who this RSVP belongs to and make the next move.

IE: if you can't read the names your guests filled out, you'd have your handy dandy invisible notes available at hand!

I purchased 2 INVIS-ID via ebay for $19.99. And that includes shipping!! You can purchase your very own spy kit from this eBay seller.

As you can see in the image below, it comes with one spy pen, one ultra UV black light, 3 extra batteries and a case for your storing needs. It also comes with 5 stickers to post in your home, car, office ect to notify any potential robbers that all items have been securely marked.

Not only will this tool be a life saver in the event of receiving our RSVP cards, it will also be a fun addition as to assembling them. {At least for Ramon it will. It'll keep him busy;)}

The extra plus of owning a spy pen is that you can mark all your valuables without anyone ever noticing. If by chance you get robbed {knock on wood} and the police find your belongings, they will scan each item with a UV black light to see who it belongs to and BAM, your identification information will be seen. Just make sure you write your name and telephone number.

Hope this helps for anyone who wants to play it safe for the "just in case" moments of handling your RSVPs.

My Bridesmaids Hair Candy!

Another Etsy love. Goodness gracious, I can never get enough of that place.

I've been searching for double gold headbands for my bridesmaids for quit some time now. I was actually starting to get a little discouraged because they were either too expensive, the band was too small for their heads, not the right color or it just didn't look right. So I turned to a sight that I've never disappointed me. Of course, Etsy was the sight who saved my headband escapade. And Gem Drop's Jewelry was the shop to deliver the goods.

These headbands are made of satin and silk. Each band measures out to be a quarter of an inch wide and has a silk covered elastic band to keep it from slipping.

For my ladies hair, I am going for a soft grecian feel. Up-do of course, soft curls adorned with these beauties. I'm using this picture as inspiration.

My Maid of Honor and I are going in for our hair and make up trials this Sunday. I'll be sure to recap with tons of pictures.

Engagement Encounter: Second Session

Again, so sorry for the absence of my being. I was sick with the worst case of "stomach flu" ever imagined. But now, I am happy to say, I'm 100 percent back into the blogging game.

Believe it or not, a lot of wedding stuff has happened since being sick. {i know, right?} So let's start at day one of my sickness.

Last week Wednesday was our second session of marriage prep and I must admit, I was not my "happy go lucky self". I was sicker than a dog. This was my first day of the stomach flu and I refused to miss my second session of marriage prep. I would just hate to be labeled "that couple" who doesn't show up to class. lol

So I went, in pure utter grossness. I felt like crap. Literally. But some how some way I made it through the night feeling like a better person.

Any who, this class was all about communication. How our communication was, is and how we hope it will be.

Our instructors directed each couple into our own private area throughout their home. We were given this booklet to work from.

Each of us had to carefully read each message, fill in the blanks and discuss each answer. Being that Ramon and I have been together since high school and were raised pretty much the same, it wasn't a surprise to hear a lot of the same answers we had. It was actually a relief. However, there were a few answers that both of us disagreed on and had a few deep discussions about. Such as: what would we do if we had a mentally challenged child? What would we do if one cheated on the other?, would we stay and work it out. Would we stick to our sacramental promise to our Lord; For richer or for poorer, for good or in bad, through thick and thin till death do us part? There were some toughies but we seemed to have made it through the night.

In between the readings and discussions, Ramon helped himself to our instructors treats. They served us cold water and cute little heart shaped cookies. I snaked on my home brought Canada Dry Ginger Ale and Fat Free Crackers. {<- was a must. Don't know what I would've done without it}

I was so proud of capturing a few glimpses of Ramon taking all seriousness into this course. To me, communication is the key. And to see him having such an open mind to our little discussions on each topic really gave me a sign of relief.

While he was able to stay on the straight and narrow, I found myself taking little breathers in between. At some points, I just felt like I was going to explode.

All in all, we finished the night feeling better as a couple. Feeling like we accomplished another chapter in our life. No wonder why the church requires these courses. Its filled with tons of information that a couple rarely ever speaks of. It really opened our world to something we've never considered. For that, I am grateful!

CAKE! Done, Done & Done!

This past weekend, Ramon and I booked our baker, signed the contract and PAID IN FULL for our oh so delicious wedding cake.

We decided to go with Gala Bakery, a cakery located a few cities away from us. We decided to book with Andrea {owner of Gala Bakery} is because she's a down to earth kind of gal. Not only is her cakes amazingly moist, not too sweet {plus for us} and always pleasantly presented, we basically booked because the chemistry Ramon and I had with her. She seems like someone that will deliver what we're asking for. We have seen many cake disasters and we refused to be on that list! For us, the cake says a lot and we were determined to find the best baker around. But of course, having a guests list consisting of 275, we were limited to the bakers in our price range :( Not to fret, Gala Bakery made it all worth while.

Our second meeting with Andrea came with a second tasting. Yuuummmm!

And as you can see, we were not shy to dig in the mouth watering display. hehe

Ramon and I chose three flavors for our guests to indulged in.

1. Chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling {I'm the choco lover}

2. Red Velvet with a Cream Cheese filling {Ramon's fav}

3. White cake with strawberry mousse filling topped with fresh strawberries

We are also serving a surprise 8 inch mini cake for my grandparents. They're very simple and only wish for a chocolate cake with no frosting for every occasion. Weather it be for their birthday, a holiday or just any old regular day, that is what they desire. So since my grandparents mean the world to me, I decided to make them feel special by surprising them with their favorite cake. Nothing more and nothing less than your simple chocolate cake.

The cake will be served to them on this tray provided by my baker. It is a cream rot-iron cake stand adorned with hanging crystals.

With the cake being such an important aspect of our wedding, we decided to incorporate our cake as the centerpiece of our cocktail hour. It will be displayed on this round granite table top located in the bar area.

GETTIN' DOWN TO THE DESIGN!!

This is our cake! Each tier will be 6 inches high, smoothly covered in an ivory butter cream frosting finished off by a thin layer of a shimmery dust.

In the center of each and every rose will be adorned with one of my DIY crystal accents.

Hanging swarovski crystals will hang on a 20 gauge gold wire over the top tier. It will be placed like the image below.

The cake will be sitting on top of a thick blanket of ivory and cream rose petals.

phew, i really hope it will turn out to be everything that I'm hoping it will be. eeek!

Engagement Encounter: First Session

First, I want to apologize for being MIA to the blogging world. Life has been a little hectic for us lately.

Any who, Ramon and I had our first Encounters of the Engaged night. Ramon and I are Catholic and are getting married in a church. One of the church requirements are that we either go on a religious couples retreat {just for a weekend} or that we take a 6 week class with other engaged couples. With the cost difference in effect, we decided to venture out in the 6 week course world.

Last Wednesday was or first session.

Fist things first... the compatibility test. HA!

They made of the couples split up and go in different parts of the house to take the "Focus Test". This test is a fill in the bubble type test consisting of 187 personal questions. Some of the questions I would have preferred to leave blank, but the instructor reminded me twice that i had to chose one :/ So I did {yikes}

Ramon was being a bad Catholic boy and interrupting his test time to capture a few snap shots of me taking my test.

Our instructors {John and Jan} were so welcoming. They made homemade cookies for us to nibble on.

The glass water pitcher was cutely displayed with matching tumblers.

and they also provided us with a little assortment of fresh fruit. {pls don't mind the browning bananas. Jan instructed us not to touch those because she had plans on making banana bread with. lol}

After the test, all the couples regrouped and did a short introduction about us as a couple. One couple met on e-harmony another met at work. When it was our turn to introduce ourselves, I started off by saying we met in the 4th grade. They all laughed. {{whatever, I thought it was cute. lol}} So then I proceeded with "We HAVE NOT BEEN TOGETHER SINCE THE 4TH GRADE, we just met in the 4th grade". All of a sudden we heard a sigh of relief. {HA! Again, whatever} And then I smacked them with "we are high school sweethearts and have been together since my junior year and his senior year. Approximately 8 1/2 years of good lovin'. They seemed so shocked to hear our long history together. I'm guessing it's because we are the youngest in the class with the most time under our belts {but for the third time, whatever!}

After the introductions we all had the chance to mingle with one another. This was an exercise to get us all comfortable with one another before we start digging up the real deets within the next 5 upcoming weeks. This, by far, was my fav part of the night. Just call me your social butterfly =)

To say the least, I love our instructors. I love our fellow engaged couples. I can't wait to see where this class will take us mentally, physically and knowingly.

MY DIY Table Numbers!!

Going off the same style as our wedding invitations {soon will be revealed}, I decided to carry on the same motif in our table numbers.

I purchased these lovely rot iron old gold easels from both Beverly's and Burlington Coat Factory. $4.99 each, was a bit of a splurge for table easels, but I couldn't help myself. I just had to have em.

The back splash shimmer gold card stock was yet another splurge hitting at $6.99 for a pack of 10 - 8x11 sheets. Again, I couldn't resist. Paper Source gets me every time!

You can buy this "Sparkle Satin Gold" ribbon at JoAnn's. A full spool measures in at 3 inches wide and 3 yards long.

The crystals were left over from my invitation supplies. {again, my invites will make their premier sooner than you know it!}

My Vases are here!!!

Today was yet another exciting wedding day. I finally have my dream vases in hand!

I have been drooling over these vases for about four months now and to finally have them in my procession is such a relief. {{exhale, now I can breath}}

These will be gracing our guests tables as one of high/tall centerpieces.

Five high arrangements will be presented in these beautiful over sized hurricane vases adorned with a ball of ivory and cream roses and accented with crystals peeking out of each rose.

I am getting so excited to see all my wedding plans unfold. I can't wait to see it in action!
