Our Engagement Party!!!

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

It was a perfect night where 120 of our closest family and friends shared in the celebration of our engagement.

We had an intimate dinner with our close family and friends at Pasta Pelican. An Italian restaurant located on the waters separating the the island 0f Alameda and the Oakland's famous Jack London Square.

We ate and we ate and we ate!

Ramon and I decided to have the following served buffet style

NEW YORK STEAK thinly sliced

SALMONE PICATTA Fillet of salmon served in a lemon butter sauce with sauteed mushrooms, capers and fresh basil

POLLO PELICANO Pan seared chicken breast served in a creamy sherry wine sauce with artichoke hearts, diced roma tomatoes, capers and fresh basil

FETTUCCINE ALFREDO Fettuccine served in a creamy, garlic and parmesan sauce

BOLOGNESE A hearty meat sauce topped with meatballs served over linguine

*** All entres were served with tossed house salad with vinaigrette as well as caesar salad, roasted seasonal vegetables, roasted potatoes and assorted fresh baked breads.

We indulged in delicious food, fabulous drinks, wonderful company, great music, memorable toasts and ending it by dancing the night away.

Here are a few pics to recap our Engagement Party.

{This is is one of our sets of Godparents}

{Our cake consisted of light sponge cake, whipped cream topping and fresh strawberry filling}

{We really wanted to do something simple with our table set up. We decided on rolled up napkins, CD favors which were placed on each bread plate. We also placed 3 framed pictures from our engagement shoot which surrounded the oil, vinegar and extra condiments and topped the table off with a light sprinkle of rose petals.}

{A simple "walk-in" table set up}

{Gettin' LOW!}

{Ending the night with a KISS!.... with my future mother-in-law}

Please stay tuned as in the next post I will reveal a special video performance that we surprised Ramon with. Hahaha, so hilarious! But TONS of FUN!!

Happy Turkey Day!

Here is a little poem I found and would like to share with all of you!

On Thanksgiving Day
we’re thankful for Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.

For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white.

We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug,
and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound.

The list of all we’re grateful for Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere we look!

Hope your day is filled with family, friends, thankful thoughts and lots and lots of TURKEY!

Happy Thanksgiving!

DIY Engagement Favors!

Saturday, November 21, 2009

{catching up since I've been MIA!}

Ramon and I aren't really big on favors. So we thought long and hard and decided on music CD's. We figured, if the guests didn't like them, at least WE would have something to remember and listen to to remind us of this special time in our lives.

Introducing our TRUE labor of love!...

{front cover}

{inside}

{LIGHTSCRIBED CD's}

{Backside of CD. All done through PowerPoint}

{Side Labels}

This DIY project took us approximately 3 months to complete. We lightscribed 130 CD's. It took about 23 minutes to lightscribe each CD plus 5 minutes to burn the music and about 5 minutes to print, cut and assemble each front and back cover. So after all is said and done, each favor took us about 33 minutes to complete.

I ask myself:

1. Would I ever do this again? Hell to the NO!
2. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY! :)

The Craziest Day In San Francisco!

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

I told you I'd be back SOONER! HA!

So, in this post, I will let you in on one of the CRAZIEST, FUNNEST, most MEMORABLE days anyone could expierience! It's called the BRIDES OF MARCH! For those of you who aren't familiar with this event, it's basically a fun filled day where EVERYONE CAN BE A BRIDE. It doesn't matter the age, sex, color or whatever you may be, every bride is welcome!

It all started by a fabulous gay guy in San Francisco about 10 years ago. Everyone gets dressed up in a wedding dress and marches the streets of San Francisco. We bar hopped, we all met up in Union Square and sang "Going to the chapel and we're...gonna get maaaarrrried!", shopped in Nieman Marcus, went into Macy's to freshen up our faces at the makeup counters, shopped for wedding bands at TIFFANY & Co. and toured the city of San Francisco's double decker buses where they offered FREE RIDES TO BRIDES!!!

Here is a sneak peak of what this Crazy, Fun filled day was all about.

P.S. Did I tell you my auntie Les got me this fabulous dress for $40 and this amazing veil for $2 off of eBay? Yup, that's right! EBAY!!

Please believe I will be returning to this event every MARCH! It's a great experience!

I'M BACK!!!!

Wow! It's been a looong time! And how I have missed my all my blogging friends and all your fabulous reads!

First, I'd like to apologize for dropping off the face of the earth! My deepest apologies to all you lovely readers. So with that, I owe you all an explanation.

To make a long story short, when I got engaged, I was super excited and wanted to document every aspect of my engagement as possible. So I did, through blogging. With all this excitement, I also wanted to share it with my closest family and friends. So I did, and emailed them this link address.

However, I never thought they'd be as interested as they were and I never thought they'd tune in on every single post. It was GREAT but there was a downside to this. If they continued to follow by blogs then what would there be to excite them the day of? By the time my big day comes, they would've already known every single detail. That was not good!

So my Maid of Honor advised me to take a break, so I did. And with 9 months of pain and agony with sticking to my promise, I have decided enough time has past and now I'm back FULL THROTTLE!!!

I have so much to tell you guys! Sooo much! Many DIY projects, dress shopping, shoes, accessories, entertainment to share!

Stay tuned....

I promise I'll come back.... sooner than you think ;)

But I will leave you with a sneak peak of my next post! Let's just say the streets of SAN FRANCISCO were filled with Fabulous brides. Definitely, an event to remember!

Jaryce
